Draft — pending solicitor review
Version 0.1. A statement of how Valdera is structured, written so the structure is on the record from the start. It is not a complete set of terms and has not been reviewed by a qualified professional. Bookings and payments are not live, so nothing here governs a transaction yet.
Terms of service
The most important thing on this page is who you are contracting with, so it goes first rather than at clause 14.
Who you contract with
When you book a detail, your contract for that work is with the detailer, not with Valdera. The detailer is an independent business. They do the work, they set their own price, they use their own equipment and materials, and they carry their own public liability insurance.
Valdera is the booking agent. We find and check detailers, run the booking and the payment rails, hold back settlement of the detailer’s money until the job is done, and step in when something goes wrong. We are not the detailing company and we do not employ the detailers.
What Valdera charges, and to whom
We charge the detailer a commission on the price they set, as a fee for the introduction and for running the booking. Where a booking fee is charged to you, it is Valdera’s own charge for Valdera’s own service and it is shown to you as a separate, named line inside the total price — never added after you have seen a price.
The detailer is the merchant of record for the detailing work. Your payment for the work is theirs; we deduct our commission from it rather than receiving the whole amount and paying them a share.
Booking through us, and going around us
Jobs found through Valdera are booked and paid for through Valdera. That is the arrangement on both sides, and everything else here rests on it.
If you are a customer: the guarantee, the dispute process and the payment protection apply to bookings made here. A job you arrange directly with a detailer you met through us is a private arrangement between the two of you — we will not be holding the money, we cannot decide a dispute about it, and the guarantee does not cover it. That is not a penalty. We simply have no record of what was agreed.
If you are a detailer: taking a customer you met here off-platform is a breach of these terms, and so is passing your phone number, email address or social profile through the message thread. Messages are the only channel and they are filtered for contact details automatically. Repeated attempts are visible to us and are grounds for suspension.
We are not trying to stop you having your own customers. Anyone who found you independently is yours and always was. This is about the ones we introduced.
How the money moves
You pay when you book. We hold the money rather than passing it straight to the detailer, and release it after the job is marked complete and the window for raising a problem has passed.
Holding it is the point: a detailer knows the money is real before they drive to you, and you know it has not gone anywhere if the work is not done. We hold it as part of running the booking, not as your bank — it earns nothing and we do not lend it. The detailer is paid weekly, less our commission.
No payment path is live yet. Nothing is captured, held, released or paid out, and no booking can be paid for on this site today. This section describes the arrangement that will apply when it is, and until then it describes an intention rather than a process.
Prices
Detailers set their own prices. Valdera publishes guide prices so customers can compare like with like, and requires listed prices to sit within a band as a condition of being listed — the same way any marketplace can decline a listing without becoming the seller. We do not set the price you pay.
Every price shown to you is the total, including any Valdera fee. If a price changes between screens it can go down; it will not go up.
Vetting, and what it does and does not mean
Before a detailer can take a booking we check their identity and that they hold valid public liability insurance, and we track its expiry rather than taking their word for it once.
That is a check, not a guarantee of the standard of any particular job. It means the person arriving is who they say they are and is insured. It does not make Valdera the supplier of the work.
What we need from you
If you are a customer, so the detailer can actually do the work: the car needs to be where you said it would be at the time you booked; they need to be able to reach it and work around it; and anything that matters — a gate code, a permit, a low ceiling, a car that does not start — needs telling us when you book. Take your valuables out first. We do not accept responsibility for anything left in the car.
If the detailer arrives and cannot work, that is treated as a late cancellation and the cancellation policy applies.
If you are a detailer: turn up when you said, or tell the customer through the app as early as you can. Hold public liability insurance of at least £1,000,000 for the whole time you are taking work and keep the certificate current — if it lapses you stop being offered jobs until it is renewed. Carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, which is the Consumer Rights Act 2015 standard and applies to you as the person providing the service. Photograph the work before and after; it is how a job is closed and it is the evidence a dispute turns on.
You decide your own hours, your own areas and your own prices within the band. You are self-employed and running your own business, and nothing in these terms makes you our employee or our worker.
Suspending or closing an account
You can close your account whenever you like. Bookings already made still stand, and money already owed is still paid.
We can suspend an account — immediately, where the reason is serious — if insurance lapses, if identity documents cannot be verified, for repeated attempts to move customers off-platform, for a pattern of no-shows or cancellations, for abusive conduct, or where we reasonably suspect fraud.
Suspension means no new work. It does not cancel bookings already accepted unless we say so, and it does not withhold money already earned on completed jobs. We will tell you why and you can reply. Where the reason is something you can fix — a renewed certificate, a re-uploaded document — fixing it restores the account.
If something goes wrong
Your legal rights in respect of the detailing work are against the detailer who did it, and nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Separately from that, Valdera provides its own service to you: we investigate what happened, we hold back the detailer’s settlement while we do, and we see the resolution through. That is a promise from Valdera about how we will act. It does not transfer the detailing work itself to Valdera, and it is not insurance.
You will have 24 hours from completion to raise a problem with a job under that process, with the before and after photos from the job available to you as evidence. Raising it later does not affect your statutory rights against the detailer; it means the Valdera process above has closed and the payment has settled.
Pending review: the precise mechanism, including how a remedy is funded, is being settled before bookings go live.
Cancelling
Cancelling, refunds, no-shows and the guarantee are set out in the Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. It includes your statutory right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which nothing here affects.

Law, and where a dispute goes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you keep the protection of your own local consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts. A term cannot take that away from a consumer.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
